Agnes Braunegg

June 29, 1932 — October 23, 2025

Agnes D. Braunegg, 93, of Charleroi passed away on October 23, 2025. She was born on June 29, 1932 in Roscoe. Agnes was the daughter of the late Mary Bury and Joseph Litavec. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Braunegg, Sr. in 2009.

Mrs. Braunegg was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church where she volunteered each year at the Festival of Nations preparing and serving haluski, pierogies and other Slovak foods. She coordinated the making and selling of pierogies and raviolis for the Church fund raisers on a regular basis as well.

Agnes was well known in the Mon Valley for her baking skills and won many baking contests in the tri-county area. Her family will miss her raisin pie, nut rolls and so many other baked goods. She had many interests including crocheting afghans, reading, watching the Steelers and talking with neighbors, friends and family. She truly loved living in Charleroi and was a prominent member of the community.

She was elected to Charleroi Borough Council for many years and served on the Washington County Democratic Committee. It was an honor for her to attend Governor Shapp’s inaugural ball in 1971.

Agnes was a member of the Charleroi Goodwill Club and also served as president where she sold Kennywood tickets each year for the annual Charleroi picnic. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters of America. Volunteering one day a week at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Monessen brought her much joy and friendship.
