Margaret "Peggy" Harrington

September 21, 1954 — February 27, 2026

Margaret “Peggy” Harrington passed away after a brief illness on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 21, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Fern Vezetti and G. Donald Harrington. She was also preceded in death by her brother Leonard, her sister Monica, and her nephew Austin.

Peggy grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Carlynton High School in 1972, where she proudly served as a majorette. Her life’s work led her to Tampa, Florida, where she spent many years as a nurse, caring for others. After retiring, she returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to family, spending her time crocheting beautiful afghans, sharing stories, and serving as the family historian.

She is survived by her daughter, Bethaney Tessitore, whom Peggy graciously placed for adoption. Their reunion in 2005 was a meaningful chapter in Peggy’s life. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Jessey Tessitore (Maxwell) and Jamey (Anthony) Pinkney.

Peggy is also remembered by her sisters, Dawn Marie (Ricky) Dragan of Burgettstown, PA, and Susan Ragsdale of Valrico, FL, along with nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.

Known to her cousins as “APH,” Peggy will be remembered for her delightful eccentricity, vivid storytelling, and unmistakable sense of humor. One favorite tale involved her earnest attempt to purchase a kitten using Applebee’s gift cards, a story that still brings laughter. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to all animals, especially her Ansley, who held Peggy’s heart.

A celebration of life will be held on May 2nd, 2026, at Driscoll Park in Washington, PA from 2-4pm
